Job Description

About the role:
As Hotel & Residences Manager, you are responsible for everything that happens across your 105 apartments and 170 bedrooms. You will be the vital link between our tried and tested Bocobay systems and processes and the delivery of 5-star guest experiences on the ground, leading the team that welcomes guests, keeps the property spotless and fixes things fast. You will run the property as a business: managing costs, holding suppliers to account, protecting our review scores and keeping homeowners confident that their investment is in good hands. Although you are leading the operation, you will not be above jumping into any matter that needs attention. You should take pride in knowing your property inside-out and regularly spending time at the front desk directly assisting guests.

We are looking for a true buck-stops-with-me person who never says that’s not my job.

About Bocobay:
Bocobay is revolutionizing hospitality through innovative, tech-powered service and inspiring, thoughtfully designed accommodations, creating a seamless vacation experience for guests and homeowners. Launched in 2020 in Aruba, Bocobay is an international business bringing a new standard to the Caribbean vacation rental market. In late 2024, we expanded our operations to Curaçao, where we are already the highest-rated vacation rental management company and on track to becoming the largest on the island. As our portfolio grows, we are looking for a Hotel & Residences Manager to take full ownership of one of our Bocobay Resorts properties in Curaçao, comprising 105 apartments with a total of 170 bedrooms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day operation of 105 apartments (170 bedrooms), making sure every arrival, stay and departure meets Bocobay’s standards
  • Lead, develop and motivate your on-site team, including front desk, housekeeping and maintenance staff, setting clear priorities and holding the team to them
  • Drive guest satisfaction and review scores across all platforms, and personally handle escalated guest issues, including decisions on compensation and relocations
  • Manage operational costs and work closely with our finance team to keep the property profitable, flagging commercial risks early
  • Build strong relationships with homeowners and, where relevant, the HOA, acting as their trusted point of contact on site
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party suppliers such as laundry, landscaping and contractors, holding them to both quality and commercial standards
  • Carry out regular property inspections and maintain standards for inventories, keys, cleanliness and presentation
  • Onboard new units operationally, from inventories and coordinating photography through to welcoming the first guests
  • Act as the face of Bocobay at your property, representing us well in front of guests, homeowners, suppliers and local partners
  • Work closely with our General Manager, client relations, pricing and guest communications teams so your property and the wider business stay in step

What we’re looking for:

  • Several years of experience in hospitality, including at least 3 in a hotel or resort management position, ideally in the luxury segment
  • Experience running a property of comparable scale (100+ keys) is a strong plus
  • A strong operator who is used to getting into the trenches and rolling up their sleeves
  • Direct responsibility for operational costs or a P&L in a previous role
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and hold a multi-disciplinary team to high standards
  • Great interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities
  • Guest-centric and positive mindset
  • An obsessive attention to detail and a high level of organization
  • Comfort in independent problem solving with the humility to ask for help when needed
  • Skilled at using common software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Thrives in a fast paced, ever-changing, always challenging startup environment
  • Fluency in English and Dutch is a must; Papiamento and Spanish are a plus
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and the right to work in Curaçao

What We Offer

  • A highly competitive salary
  • Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding Caribbean hospitality company
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • High-energy and entrepreneurial work environment
  • Supportive and collaborative team
  • Full ownership of your own property and its results
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact on the guest and homeowner experience

As an early leader in Curaçao, you will have a significant opportunity to shape our operations on the island and grow with the company. Some of our early hires in Aruba have since moved on to become senior managers in our fast-growing business, and the same is possible in Curaçao, based on your interest, aptitude and initiative.

Important to note

We are a young company with ambitious growth plans, and this is not a 9-to-5 role (at least not always). The nature of our business means that urgent requests can come in at all times, and while we always try to make sure our staff get sufficient rest and time off, hospitality hours can be long and unpredictable during peak times. This reality is offset by flexibility around working hours during quiet times: our default is to trust our employees, and we encourage you to make up for extra hours worked by clocking off early when there is the possibility to do so (coordinating with your team members).
